2007 GENERAL LAKE SCIENCE CAMP RULES Chapman Lakes Conservation Association, Inc.
No child will be considered for admission to the camp without first having submitted a completed Application for Admission accompanied by all fees. The camp reserves the right to determine and assign campers to a camp session based upon enrollment and available space. An Application for Admission must be submitted for each child. Acceptance notices will be sent as spaces are filled.
1. All campers must have reached the age of 10 before the first day of camp and be not more than age 12 by the final day of camp. [In the event of challenge, a certified birth certificate is proof of age.] 2. Space is limited. The Camper Application for Admission is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis without regard to race, creed or national origin. Preference will be given first to the children or grand-children of CLCA members, but only if the applications are received prior to the "early-bird" application deadline of May 1st. Application is open to the general public until June 1st. Incomplete applications will be rejected. 3. CLCA Lake Science Day Camp reserves the right to add or to cancel any day camp session(s) for which there is insufficient enrollment. 4. Total tuition fee must accompany application. NO REFUNDS will be given for applications received or postmarked after the application deadline has passed. Tuition received will be forfeited if child is unable to attend camp or withdraws his/her application after the deadline has passed. The following applies to refunds for withdrawal from camp PRIOR to application deadline: Total fee, less 25% for administrative costs, will be refunded. 5. Tuition will be fully refunded for all camper applicants who are disqualified for reason all camp sessions are full, if the application is received prior to the application deadline. 6. CLCA Lake Science Day Camp is a hands-on, field trip, day camp environment involving walking field trips, hikes into woods, to the lake shore, wetlands, and streams in the lake watershed. Each camp application MUST clearly state any allergies or known allergic reactions to which the camper may be subject, and, parent(s) must certify the general overall fitness of the child to participate in the activities herein described. 7. Child must be in reasonably good health with no communicable diseases. Special health problems cannot be accommodated. (SPECIAL NOTE: While field trips are carefully directed, campers could come into contact with poison ivy, poison oak, nettles, and native insects. Field trips may require long pants or sleeves, and appropriate washable shoes or sneakers, all of which may be brought in a back pack. Sandals or flip-flops will NOT be allowed at any time. Insect spray will be provided by the camp. Shorts or swim suit is needed for aquatic plant sampling. Campers may bring their own life jacket with name clearly marked on the inside. 8. Because of space/facility limitations, parent(s) or guardian(s) cannot accompany a camper. 9. Campers MUST arrive (at the CLCA Clubhouse corner of 325E & 300N) promptly each day of camp not later than 8:55 AM to be ready for start of camp at 9:00 AM, sharp. 10. Parent(s) must arrange for pick up of child between 3:00 and 3:15 PM daily. No arrangements for late pick up can be made. 11. For the safety of children, campers will only be released to persons specifically designated and identified in advance. 12. Special diet food needs of a camper cannot be accommodated. 13. Camp personnel cannot administer or be responsible for a child's medications of any kind or character. 14. DO NOT bring toys, calculators, keep sakes, Game Boy, radios, players, or any other electronic device to camp! ALL GAMES, TOYS AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES, DRUGS, OR, ITEMS THAT ARE CONSIDERED DANGEROUS, (SUCH AS KNIVES, SHARP OBJECTS OR WEAPONS) ARE PROHIBITED AND REASON FOR IMMEDIATE EXPULSION. CAMP STAFF IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST ARTICLES OF ANY KIND. Clothing and personal items should be clearly marked with the name of the camper. 15. Campers must abide by all camp staff directives. A disruptive camper will be expelled and tuition forfeited, at the sole discretion of the CLCA Lake Science Day Camp director or staff.
EMERGENCIES: A qualified nurse or EMT will be on duty. However, emergencies can occur. In that unlikely event, the camp nurse, director, counselor, or official will immediately notify 911, and telephone the emergency contact(s) provided. Every camper application must include a signed "Emergency Medical Treatment Authorization for a Minor" that can be given to qualified EMS or Emergency Room staff by CLCA Lake Science Camp officials.
