You can become a part of Chapman Lakes Conservation Association. An adult can be a Voting (Chapman Lake resident) member, or an Associate (non-resident) member. Residents who own or occupy property that is lakeside, on a channel, or, have direct deeded access to either of the Chapman Lakes is eligible to become a voting member. Dues are $25 per person for Class 1 (voting resident) members. Two adults from each property may be members. This permits a couple to both be actively involved and support CLCA activities and government. Because of the voting member property requirements, CLCA is effectively a property owner association. Supporting non-resident, non-property owner (associate) dues are $15 each. Class 1 members automatically receive a copy of our Making Waves™ newsletter, published not less than 10 times per year. Making Waves™ is the informational newsletter for CLCA. Within its pages you will find information about your organization, and, more importantly, information about lake enhancement projects, things that may affect your property, and do's and don'ts at the lake. CLCA's newsletter is recognized throughout the state as one of the more informative lake association publications.

Individuals who do not live at the Chapman Lakes may also enjoy the knowledge they, too, are helping Indiana Lakes by joining CLCA as an Associate Member. As with voting members, one-half of all dues goes directly to lake enhancement and educational programs. CLICK HERE FOR SUMMARY. Currently CLCA's major activities include lake enhancement projects to protect or improve lake water quality, and lake education designed to help newcomers and those who visit here enjoy the lake more fully without endangering the delicate balance of our lakes and properties.
Where does the money go:
One-half of all dues receipts go to the "lake enhancement fund"; and, the balance helps pay for membership communications and meetings, including the Making Waves™ newsletter. The lake enhancement fund supports printed materials for public lake education and small lake enhancement projects. (The CL foundation usually funds major projects.) Proceeds from pancake breakfasts and fish fries support costs to maintain the clubhouse; kids to conservation camp; and occasional hunter and boating safety classes. Independence or "fireworks" contributions stay in a separate fund to pay for that one-day event including the flotilla and fireworks. It costs $8,000 just for the fireworks show. According to board policy, if the independence celebration fund ever has a surplus, over and above the anticipated next year costs, a portion of the surplus could go into the lake enhancement fund.
